I found this excerpt on Amazon on a book "Secrets of the Millionaire Mind: Mastering the Inner Game of Wealth", by T. Harv Eker which I have not read, but the following is quite powerful. I would suggest you carefully review each point and ask you Ku which belief you hold. You might find this particularly enlightening. Notice a striking similarity in #1 with the fundamental Huna belief.

1. Rich people believe "I create my life." Poor people believe, "Life happens to me."
2. Rich people play the money game to win. Poor people play the money game to not lose.
3. Rich people are committed to being rich. Poor people want to be rich.
4. Rich people think big. Poor people think small.
5. Rich people focus on opportunities. Poor people focus on obstacles.
6. Rich people admire other rich and successful people. Poor people resent rich and successful people.
7. Rich people associate with positive, successful people. Poor people associate with negative or unsuccessful people.
8. Rich people are willing to promote themselves and their value. Poor people think negatively about selling and promotion.
9. Rich people are bigger than their problems. Poor people are smaller than their problems.
10. Rich people are excellent receivers. Poor people are poor receivers.
11. Rich people choose to get paid based on results. Poor people choose to get paid based on time.
12. Rich people think "both." Poor people think "either/or."
13. Rich people focus on their net worth. Poor people focus on their working income.
14. Rich people manage their money well. Poor people mismanage their money well.
15. Rich people have their money work hard for them. Poor people work hard for their money.
16. Rich people act in spite of fear. Poor people let fear stop them.
17. Rich people constantly learn and grow. Poor people think they already know.

I just copied this to a separate document so I can look at it tomorrow... I can already tell it will be a great inspiration.

Thanks, Po.

This is a great list!

I keep catching myself being jealous of the wealth and knowledge of other people.

I remind myself that, just as they have skills that I do not, I have skills that they do not. Maybe that would be a good exercise, to make a list of all the ways in which we are wealthy.

It is strange how many of us are poverty-minded, especially in college, where it is trendy to be broke. o_o Oh, I want to write a lot more about this. There's a club in college. It's the "I have no money" club. If you complain about being broke, you will be welcomed with cameraderie and smiles and open arms. BUT if you have money, people think that you're weird! Misery looooves company. It's like a disease. Some people try to lay guilt on you if you're healthier/happier/richer than they are, or even if you think you are. *growls at this*

I try to remember and tell myself that I am not poor nor broke. Instead, I am just very very conscious of living inexpensively. =) I am enabling my future self to live well by living lean right now.

Good observations, Zillin. I used to be jealous of others who were wealthy, or I would make up excuses why they became successful and I was not.

I started changing that by learning to really admire them, by really being happy for them. My simple chant was "God Bless them!".

Many years later, I can say that this has become automatic and has made a profound difference in my life.

BTW, that's a really interesting observation that its "trendy" to be broke in College. Amazing what the Ku will come up with in order to feel comfortable with a situation that's not really desired.

Mahalo Nui Pohaku,

I really needed this right now, the HunaTrainer forum is a great way to energise an otherwise dull Monday morning!

Now I can focus on the big picture.

I think I posted this once before -- but I can't find it. In addition to this wonderful guiding list (thanks Po !) --

Truly "rich" people know that money can buy:

a house -- but not a home.
a clock -- but not more time.
a bed -- but not a good night's sleep.
a book -- but not knowledge.
a doctor's appointment -- but not good health.
a company -- but not respect.
sex -- but not love.
blood -- but not life.

Hugs all around -- Satsuma

You people rock!

But I think rich can also not be monitory.

Rich people believe "I create my life." Poor people believe, "Life happens to me."

That to me means rich in terms of allot of something, wether that is love, fun, friends and so on. I think you could eaven be rich with hate. I know hitler was probably that. but he created that reality.

Lets hope we don't see that kind of a reality again :)

So I want to be rich with love. :)

I agree Jam.

In fact money is a belief system in and of itself, do you think your bank balance is a stack of notes in the bank vault? Think again. In my case it really is non-existent Ha! :D

But if you read about the world of finance you discover that it's the confidence of normal people that makes the system work, that's why the mood of a country can have such an effect on that nations economy (not the other way around). We collectively create these climates by our thoughts.

Much Aloha to you, love is a great richness indeed.

Pete.

I saw this similar list in the book "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki.

Very entertaining book about the rich people's perception of money. The Rich creates money. The Poor work for money. Knowledge is Power.
